There’s Hope Yet

I just finished reading the Writer’s Almanac (check the blogroll) for today and ended with a big smile on my face and a warmth in my gut. Apparently, it was T.S. Eliot’s birthday today. Prior to reading about him today I didn’t know too much about him – not that I remember anyhow. What struck me most about the short biography was the skepticism and hopelessness that he exuded. It sounded like a sad poet’s life.
But when he was 70 he got married and lived in what sounded like bliss with his young wife for the remainder of his days. I guess it’s never to late for the clouds of despair to be chased away by the warmth of love and joy for life and all the good that’s in it. So if there was hope for an old skeptic like T.S. Eliot, there must be hope for us lesser skeptics.
