Sid the Kid Turns 100
Posted by PintofStout on April 18, 2006
Sidney Crosby, the young rookie for the Pittsburgh Penguins, accomplished a feat done only six other times in the history of the NHL (twice this year). He added his name to the list of rookies who have scored 100 points in their inaugural season. Sidney just happens to be the youngest ever, beating out fellow rookie Alexander Ovechkin, who had 105 points as of last night, by a mere six months or so.. These two rookies join the likes of Sidney’s landlord, Mario Lemieux, Dave Howerchuck, and Teemu Salaane.
Both rookies this year helped to add a bright spot to otherwise dismal seasons for their respective clubs, while giving the NHL the first year ever with two rookie 100 point scorers. Congratulations, guys!
